Explore a magical snow-covered fairy tale forest next to Jotunheimen
National Park. Glide through a snow-draped landscape and listen to
the rhythm of paws against snow, and to the sound of energetic dogs
panting. Get an introduction to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing,
and hike through a snow-clad forest on snowshoes and explore mystical
forest paths.
This includes an instruction to cross-country skiing and
snowshoeing, as well as a guided snowshoe hike on forest trails. Explore
the vast network of cross country tracks on your own and experience
the beautiful starry sky at night, far away from any light pollution.
Have fun exploring the Saga forest trails surrounding the campsite,
or simply enjoy and have fun in the snow!

Accommodation

Sjodalen Hyttetun & Camping

Sjodalen Hyttetun & Camping is located right off the main road, with
a lovely view of the mighty 2000m peaks of Jotunheimen national
park. Stay in cozy wilderness cabins in tranquil surroundings. Choose
between self-catering or full board. If you let us provide all the food,
enjoy delicious meals in the wooden teepee or around the bonfire.

The last night will be spent in one of the fairytale cabins, inspired by
Tolkien’s fantasy universe. A breakfast basket will be delivered to your
door in the morning.

Itinerary proposal

The order of the activities on Day 2 – 4 may differ from what is
described below (but the contents are the same).

Day 1 – Welcome to Sjodalen

Transfer from OSL to Sjodalen Hyttetun & Camping with train & private
shuttle. Meet & greet at Gammen mountain pub. You can arrange us to

Day 2 – Winter trekking in beautiful nature

Choose between a cross country skiing or snowshoe introduction, before
exploring the many forest trails and cross country tracks
surrounding the campsite. Use one of our guides freely for up to 3 hours,
or you explore on your own. Snuggle up with a hot chocolate
and a waffle in front of the fireplace or outdoor bonfire upon your
return.

Day 3 – Day of leisure

Explore the area on snowshoes or cross country skis, or sign up for a
guided snowshoe hike to Sjugurdsjøpiggen or Stuttgongskampen.

Day 4 – Dog sledding with Heidal Husky

Spend the day making new four-legged friends at Heidal Husky. You will
learn how to harness and mush a team of huskies, and how to manage
the sled. Enjoy life behind a pack of happy husky tails, as you ride past
snow-covered pines and across the frozen Sjoa river (12km)
